The copper craft work that we do in our shop and sell in our store " HOME CREATIONS CIW ", it the same technique as used, ago hundreds of years.

In Prehispanic times the residents of the region already transformed the copper utilizing it in many ways. The technique used was to put the copper on a stone and to hit it with another stone. In this way they could make utensils for daily use such as simple trays (they were not very deep) and arrows with copper tips and others weapon these inventions.

Thanks to, the Purepecha Empire was never conquered by any other Empire of the continent, including the Aztecs (warriors par excellence). With the arrival of the Spaniards and of Don Vasco de Quiroga, other work techniques arrived to transform the copper which were incorporate to those already used. With that an increase was made in a variety of the hand crafts pieces.

Over progress of many years, the artists of Santa Clara have improved the ways and techniques of the work although it in no way is a substitute for the craftsmanship of ancestors (the one of transforming simple copper in to beautiful pieces, forging the pieces only with their hammer blows). It is for that reason that the Copper Craft of Santa Clara del Cobre is very Unique.

At the present time, the raw copper that one works is recycled we transform this in to different types of finished pieces. From a simple ladle or pot to pieces like big, small, vase, candle holders, candlesticks, plates. We have now added to our besides pieces that decorate and they have an use added as the, mirrors frames, tubs, sinks for bathroom or kitchen. Of all designs, to even claw footed, bathtubs, for used and decoration. Many of our vases, plates have a hand engraved design topped with silver plated and others are two toned with a technique called patina.
